Date Night for 2 will be taking this Valentines Day off as the owners go on a cruise to Mexico for our 10th anniversary. Sorry, not sorry. But not to worry! February is the one month out of the year when there are an ABUNDANCE of dinner-dance events to choose from in SLC and Utah County. Because we love our fans and shudder to think any of you might resort to dinner and a movie that weekend, here are our recommendations for Valentine’s Day 2017:
Thanksgiving Point Dinner Dance
Lehi, UT – Saturday, Feb 11th and Tuesday, Feb 14th from 6pm – 11pm
Starting at $58/person
We have personally attended this Valentines event in the past and LOVED it! While the price tag is a little balk-worthy, the food is excellent and it’s just so fun to get dolled up and splurge a little, don’t you think? In the past, the live band’s playlist has ranged from retro jazz to contemporary favorites, so it’s sure to please most everyone.
Provo Library Valentine’s Masquerade
Provo, UT – Saturday, Feb 11th at 6pm
This will probably be our choice this year, if we’re not too sunburnt or jet-lagged to make it. This event sells out every single year though, so get your tickets soon (starting 1/18)! Live music is usually provided by Date Night for 2 veterans CB Jazz, so you can count on retro swing and jazz music all night long! Dinner provided by Marvellous Catering has been delicious in the past, and dress is formal, so this is our #1 pick for best Valentine’s bang for your buck.
University of Utah Union Ballroom, Saturday, Feb 11th 8pm
starting at $60/person
For our Ballroom Dance fans, this is another formal splurge sure to make a Valentine’s date you’ll never forget. It’s a fundraiser for the Salt Lake Symphony and definitely the kind of thing I’d pay for just to go hear the music and watch everyone else dance!
Regency Romance Ball
Little America Hotel, Saturday, February 4th @ 5:30 pm
starting at $75/person
Looking to go all-out for Valentine’s this year? Can’t shake that feeling that you were born in the wrong century? This event won’t let you down. While we’ve never attended this particular event, we’ve gone to several dances led by the Old Glory Vintage Dancers and loved every minute. Beginner-friendly Regency dance lessons and an authentic English dinner are included in the price – but you’re on your own for the costume! Don’t worry though, we’ve seen varying levels of authenticity in the costumes at these events, and no one will scoff at you if you show up in contemporary semi-formal wear.
Valentines Day at the Rainbow Room
UVU Sorenson Center Grande Ballroom, Tuesday, February 14th 6pm
$37.50/person ($75 per couple)
Here’s another great deal on an elegant night out. Music will be provided by the UVU Jazz ensemble and dinner by the UVU culinary arts school. And it appears (but don’t quote me on this) that you might be able to opt out of dinner and get discounted tickets for just dessert-and-dance. The option doesn’t currently work on their ticketing website though.
Choose well, everyone! And happy Valentine’s Day!
